Overview

This guide helps administrators complete common identity and access management tasks in a consistent, supportable way. Use it as a practical reference for onboarding users and applications, maintaining accounts, and enforcing access controls and audit requirements.

Who this guide is for

  • Identity and access administrators
  • Helpdesk and operations teams supporting end-user access
  • Application owners who manage access policies and governance controls

How this guide is organized

Use cases are grouped into the following categories to reduce duplication and make tasks easier to find:
  1. Application lifecycle
Covers the full application lifecycle, including creation, configuration, and policy management. Controls how users register and authenticate through authentication and registration policies, identity proofing, MFA requirements, and compliance settings. Use this section when you need to onboard new applications, adjust application-level controls that apply to many users, and manage application policies and configurations.
  2. User lifecycle
Covers day-to-day user administration tasks, including creating and maintaining user profiles, updating account status, and supporting account recovery. Use this section for account management that help users regain or maintain access.
  3. Access and governance
Covers access management and oversight activities, including managing group-based access, applying governance controls, and reviewing/exporting audit information. Use this section to manage who has access to what and to produce activity evidence when needed.
  4. User activity
Covers how user and system actions are reviewed and analyzed to support troubleshooting, investigation, and compliance requirements. Use this section to review audit logs, track user login flows, investigate access issues, and export activity data for reporting and analysis.

What’s included in each use case

Each use case includes a Scenario, Prerequisites, Steps, and Notes to ensure the task can be completed consistently and to reduce rework during support or audits.
Note: Access and governance section is applicable for OHID tenants.
