Portal initiated step-up (For hybrid portals)

Step-up is the process of converting an unmatched account to a matched account. Unmatched accounts do not create an association between HSID UUID and EiMP golden record when they register on HSID. When the user identity information has been delivered to EiMP, (e.g. the user got a valid plan, etc), they can be stepped-up. This process can be initiated through different flows, but this section will cover the step-up initiated by the portal.
  • User created an unmatched account on HSID/AIKYAM by providing first name, last name and date of birth.
  • User performs login with the unmatched account and lands on portal post login screen.
  • It is portals responsibility to decide whether to continue with the unmatched experience or step-up the user. Portal will decide the timing for the same.
  • Portal will ask for more details from the user and validate the eligibility of the user to become a member.
  • Portal creates or updates a golden record in EiMP for the user.
  • After above step, Portal will pass the Big4 (FN/LN/DOB/ search_keys identifier) and HSID UUID to HSID/Aikyam to step-up the user. This will be achieved by initiating an OIDC call and passing along the identity information in “login_hint” parameter.
  • If there is an already active session for the user, when OIDC is initiated, step-up will be done behind the scenes without asking for any information from the user otherwise user would be asked to perform sign in.
  • After completion of the step-up flow will be redirected to the portal url with an authCode.
  • In case of an error during the process, the user will be redirected to the portal redirect URI with error code. Below is the OIDC standard error code and message returned. Portal teams can translate this error code as per their requirements.
