A password policy defines the parameters that govern password strength and complexity. These parameters ensure compliance with organizational security standards and mitigate unauthorized access risks.
Aikyam implements a default policy designed to enforce strong password practices. Password policies apply at the application level and are enforced when users create or update their credentials. Aikyam enforces default password policy that defines settings like the password complexity, length, age, acceptable characters, and length for usernames. Administrators can override this default by creating custom policies with varying levels of restriction and assigning them to specific user groups.
Note: Password policy is an app-level setting in the Aikyam Identity Console. All groups that are part of the application follow the same policy.
Policies are managed through the Aikyam Admin Console. Administrators can:
- Modify default policies.
- Create new policies tailored to application-specific requirements.
Setting | Description |
Special characters | Requires at least one special character in passwords (Example, @, #, $) |
Total characters: Minimum characters Maximum characters | Defines the minimum number of characters required for a password Defines the maximum allowed length for passwords |
Additional criteria | Enforces additional password complexity: at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one numeric character |
Password reuse | Sets the number of previous passwords that cannot be reused |
Minimum character difference | Specifies the number of characters that must differ when changing a password |
Invalid password lockout | Defines the number of consecutive failed login attempts that will lock the user account |
Password expiration | Sets the number of days after which a password must be changed Sets the number of days after which inactive users must reset passwords |
Password updates | Specifies the minimum interval that must pass before a user can change their password again, as defined by organizational policy. |
